Audrey Salzman

My name is Audrey Salzman and I am so excited to be a part of the Matt Skelly Training team!

I have been a personal trainer for over 2½ years and I love it! Before becoming a personal trainer, I was an elementary school teacher teaching 2nd graders. While teaching and before moving to Wilmington, I worked with many personal trainers and decided that fitness was where my heart was belonged. My biggest inspiration was my son. He trained me and taught me a lot about functional mobility. He also taught me that movement is medicine!

Fitness is a huge part of who I am and it has helped me with many things I have encountered in life. I have six autoimmune diseases – one of which is Lupus. Exercise has been my saving grace and I didn’t realize that until I developed a blood clot and pulmonary embolisms in both of my lungs. My road to recovery involved changing the way I did things and how I took care of myself. So, I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer and made sure that my body got into shape to help make my chronic diseases more manageable. I committed myself to both cardiovascular and strength training and changed the way I thought about exercising. This was life altering for me. I had never been fond of exercising, nor had I stepped foot into a gym. Once I started, however, and found the right trainer to help me I was hooked and noticed that my body started to feel better and mentally my spirit improved. Exercise has become a way of life for me and part of my everyday regimen.

When I moved to Wilmington, I decided to combine my passions for teaching and fitness and I became a personal trainer! I am an ACE certified personal trainer with a specialization in functional training. Before starting to work at Matt Skelly Training, I worked at Curves, a fitness facility for women and Anytime Fitness. Each client that I had the honor of training came in with a unique story and journey. I have found that when you listen to someone’s vision and give them the right tools, 1:1 individualized attention, and positivity anything can be achieved! My priority is to help my client’s meet their personal health and fitness goals and while enjoying and experiencing moving their bodies in ways they never thought possible. It’s important to me to make sure that my clients have a positive experience and that they make a commitment to a healthy and fit lifestyle.
